2014 in retrospect, 2015 in prospect

As 2014 winds down, I was ticking some great number of items off my bucket list last night and thought why not share it with you all. Also, I’ve started blogging this year you see, so an appropriate post to end the year ;)

2014 started out on a good note and continued to be so and that’s what I liked the most. I quit my first job (the place where I started my career, the place which will always be close to my heart, the place where I wouldn’t mind going back, maybe after few years), seeking greener pastures. Took me a little longer than I had anticipated to get used to the new work place but all is well now smile emoticon (It was a well thought-of decision and I believe it was the right time to switch. I had to get out of my comfort zone and aim for bigger and better. No regrets whatsoever.) Nonetheless, it was a welcome change. I have lost count on the number of outings we have had. It is always important to have a good team and I have been lucky, touch wood.

I used to play veena as a child but discontinued for no valid reason, maybe because of change in residence or maybe life just got busy and I lost the hang of it (jack of all trades, master of none, that I am confused emoticon ). My brother gifted me one this year! smile emoticon So thoughtful of him and I can’t thank him enough for rekindling the joy of playing an instrument, for reminding me of what I am capable of doing. I will make it a point to hone my skills, come up to speed and invest more time in music this coming year.

I make it a point to go on a holiday at least once a year, but this time I could manage two long holidays! smile emoticon Travelled to Ladakh which was long-due and is a major check-off my bucket list this year. Made a quick plan to visit Rajasthan towards the end of the year and the experience of travelling to these places was amazing. It even inspired me to maintain a travelogue. I look forward to visit more places in 2015. If things go well, I might be touring North-East this time ;) and blogging will be directly proportional to my travel. The more I travel, the more I write. Otherwise, I don’t know what to write about!

I managed to read 13 books this year. Didn’t limit to my favourite genre thriller, but read different genres which even includes autobiography! Took up this challenge on Goodreads to read at least 12 books in 2014, as in minimum one book a month but ended up reading 13! I am going to raise the bar to 15 in 2015 (pretty realistic goal as I have so many other things also planned ;)).

Took part in two walkathons. One organised by a friend’s company and the other for Beat Diabetes campaign. Walked a few kilometers in Lalbagh during weekends. Would love to continue the same in 2015. Running a marathon is a long shot razz so I am OK with walkathons smile emoticon and  that’s my fitness mantra!

The most satisfying experience I’ve had in 2014 would be volunteering as a Scribe for two visually impaired candidates. It was my first time and the most fulfilling experience so far For Christmas, few friends and I raised funds to help lesser privileged children. This was again a whole new experience for me and truly enriching . Going forward, I want to take some time out for more such activities.

It was in deed a good year. In a nutshell, what I want to do in 2015 is read more, travel more, learn new skills, hone my skills and go for growth!

The picture says it all

If you were looking for something related to my marriage in this post, I’m sorry razz marriage in not in the cards as yet. The later, the better ;)

Hope 2015 brings more joy to everyone’s life. Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous new year!
